RIVA Solutions, Inc. has been awarded the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) CoastWatch/OceanWatch/PolarWatch Program Operations, Services, and Science Support contract.
Led by personnel averaging more than 30 years of CoastWatch experience and a dedicated workforce averaging more than 15 years on the program, RIVA’s team generates satellite ocean products for 38 Earth-observing satellites and manages multi-petabyte satellite data collections that power critical environmental data services across NOAA. The team delivers Moderate Assurance products for the National Weather Service’s weather and ocean forecasting and modeling systems, such as the Real-Time Ocean Forecast System (RTOFS), NOAA GOES-18 ACSPO Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and SMOS/SMAP Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) products. RIVA’s team also produces full-resolution VIIRS ocean color and chlorophyll-a anomaly products that support NOAA National Ocean Service’s harmful algal bloom forecasting.
Together, these capabilities help deliver the timely, reliable environmental intelligence that supports weather forecasting, fisheries management, coastal monitoring, marine safety, and scientific research. Under CoastWatch 3.0, RIVA will continue supporting program operations, science collaboration and product transition, and centralized satellite user training.
